An absolutely stunning 1942 Mercury dime graded MS 68 by NGC. It carries a very sharp strike with nearly fully split bands on the reverse! The obverse holds a very light hue of golden colored toning while the reverse is entirely blast white with not even a single spot of toning. This coin has supreme mint luster and is tied for the finest grade by NGC without full bands.
This date is extremely common with a huge mintage of 205,410,000. The PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 75,000 have survived in all grades today. This coin is one of only 15 graded Mint State 68 by NGC making it tied with the others for the finest graded by NGC. There are currently none graded higher.
