An absolutely gorgeous 1937 D three legged, buffalo head nickel graded MS 62 by NGC. This coin carries excellent details with absolutely beautiful toned original surfaces. This stunning coin looks exceptional for the grade and is seldom ever offered with such attractive and original surfaces. We believe it would have graded higher but it does have a mark on the buffalo's back as shown in the photos provided.
What makes this coin even more special other than the condition and the beautiful toning is the holder it is stored in. Although the label is mostly gone on the reverse, it has been housed in a collectible 'NGC Fatty Holder'. We have never before seen a three legged buffalo nickel stored in one of these old time holders before that we can ever remember.
The PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 10,000 of these have survived in all grades today! This variety coin is seldom offered in this grade level certified problem free by PCGS. This coin is one of only 639 graded Mint State 62 by NGC.
