1916/1916 5C Doubled Die Obverse Buffalo Head Nickel PCGS G 6 1916 DDO

A rare 1916 double die obverse, buffalo head nickel graded G 6 by PCGS. This variety is by far the toughest and most desirable for the entire buffalo nickel series. It carries great detail for the grade with attractive original surfaces and a very strong over-date for the grade. You can clearly see the doubled six in the date as well as the doubled feathers on the obverse. This is one of only a few we have ever offered in all of our years in the coin business. This Philadelphia Mint date holds a very high mintage of 63,498,066. However, of this extreme mintage the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 400 of these have survived that are this rare double die obverse variety such as this one.
