1909 S VDB 1c Lincoln Wheat Cent NGC AU 50 About Uncirculated Wood Grain

A uniquely toned 1909 S VDB key date Lincoln wheat cent graded AU 50 by NGC. It carries a sharp strike with a wood-grain style tone that is prominent throughout both sides. It holds a strong date, clear S mint-mark, and bold VDB on the reverse. It has been housed in a newer style NGC prong holder. 

This key date coin has been in strong demand among collectors. The 1909 S VDB Lincoln wheat cent is arguably one of the most desirable coins ever minted by the United States Mint. It carries a very low mintage of only 484,000. The PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 50,000 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 187 graded About Uncirculated 50 by NGC.
