1867 No Rays 5c Shield Nickel NGC MS 63 Uncirculated Sharp Strike Toned Original

An 1867 no rays, shield nickel graded MS 63 by NGC. It carries a strong strike throughout both sides with attractive original toning among both the obverse and reverse. This is a very popular coin as it is the first year of the shield nickel series minted with no rays. This Philadelphia Mint date holds a mintage of 28,890,500. However, of this massive mintage the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 40,000 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 169 graded Mint State 63 by NGC.
