1864 L 1c Indian Head Cent NGC MS 64 RD Red 1864/186 FS 2302 S 3 Snow !

An absolutely beautiful 1864 L on ribbon Indian Head Cent graded MS 64 RD by NGC. It holds an excellent strike with very sharp detail for the grade level. It has a clear re-punched '186' on the obverse and has been designated as the FS-2302 variety which is also known as the S-3 variety. A very tough variety coin to find in this grade level that is seldom ever offered in this condition. This date holds a total mintage of 39,233,714. Of this huge mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 180 have survived in red condition today. It is the only one graded Mint State 64 Red by NGC for this FS-2302 (Snow 3) variety. At the time of this listing, only one is graded finer by NGC in red condition.
