An 1856 Upright 5, braided hair large cent graded MS 65 RB by PCGS. It carries a an exceptional strike throughout both sides with absolutely beautiful surfaces. It holds mostly a red obverse with some attractive colorful toning around the rims of the reverse. A very appealing coin that is not often offer in this grade with such a beautiful look.
This date is among the most common of the entire series with a huge mintage of 2,690,463. However, of this mintage the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 500 have survived today in red brown condition such as this one. This coin is one of only 55 graded Mint State 65 Red Brown by PCGS. At the time of this listing there are only 16 graded finer.
