1955 Double Die Obverse Lincoln Wheat Cent NGC AU 53 1955/1955 DDO CAC Cert#9004

A  very attractive 1955 double die obverse Lincoln wheat cent graded AU 53 by NGC. This coin carries excellent details for the grade with very attractive chocolate brown original surfaces. It has been housed in a newer style NGC holder and has been approved by CAC for quality. This key variety coin has been in strong demand lately among collectors.

This is one of our favorite variety coins ever minted by the United States Mint. Out of a mintage of 33,058,000 for the 1955 wheat cent the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 15,000 1955 double die wheat cents exist today! It is one of only 203 graded About Uncirculated 53 by NGC. It is also one of only 36 approved by CAC for quality in this grade.
