An absolutely gorgeous 1938 D buffalo head nickel graded MS 67+. This coin is by far the most stunning buffalo head nickel we have ever offered. It carries amazing vibrant pink and purple toning around the rims of the obverse with some beautiful toning around the reverse rims as well. We believe PCGS was conservative on this gem and that it should have graded a point higher.
This is one of the most common dates to the series with a massive mintage of 7,020,000. However, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 150,000 have survived in all grades today. This beauty is one of only 239 graded Mint State 67+ by PCGS.
