1909 S VDB 1c Lincoln Wheat Cent NGC XF 40 BN Extra Fine Key Date King of the Lincolns
A sharply struck 1909 S VDB key date Lincoln Wheat Cent graded XF 40 by NGC. It carries excellent detail for the grade with some circulation chatter throughout both sides. It holds a very strong date, clear S Mint-mark and an easily readable V.D.B on the reverse. This key date has been by far our best seller and has continued to be in strong demand among collectors. The 1909 S VDB Lincoln Wheat Cent is arguably one of the most desirable coins ever minted by the United States Mint. It carries a low mintage of only 484,000. However, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 50,000 of these exist today that are brown such as this circulated example. Of this number, this coin is one of 484 graded Extra Fine 40 by NGC.
