A very attractive 1909 S VDB key date Lincoln wheat cent graded F 15 by NGC. It carries a good strong strike throughout both sides with an appealing chocolate brown patina. We believe this coin could have easily gone 'VF' in our recommendation. It holds a strong date, clear S mint-mark, and bold VDB on the reverse. It has been housed in a slightly older style NGC holder. This key date coin has been in very strong demand among collectors.
The 1909 S VDB Lincoln wheat cent is arguably one of the most desirable coins ever minted by the United States Mint. It carries a very low mintage of only 484,000. The PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 50,000 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 1,037 graded to be in 'Fine' condition by NGC.
