1909 S VDB 1C Lincoln Wheat Cent NGC XF 40 Extra Fine Key Date San Francisco

A nice original 1909 S VDB key date Lincoln wheat cent graded XF 40 by NGC. It carries very strong details for the grade with a darker chocolate brown original patina. It holds a very strong date, clear S Mint-mark and bold readable V.D.B on the reverse. This key date coin has been one of the toughest coins for us to keep in inventory lately as they have been in strong demand.

The 1909 S VDB Lincoln wheat cent is arguably one of the most desirable coins ever minted by the United States Mint. It carries a low mintage of only 484,000. However, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 50,000 of these exist today that are brown such as this circulated example. This coin is one of only 474 graded to be in Extra Fine condition by NGC.
