1888 5C Liberty Head Nickel PCGS PR 64 Proof Low Mintage Proof Type Coin Toned

An 1888 proof liberty head nickel graded PR 64 by PCGS. It holds a superior proof quality strike with some attractive light blue toning throughout some of the obverse and reverse. However, it does have some darker spots on it which we believe is why it only received the PR 64 grade from PCGS. This proof issue date holds a tiny mintage of only 4,582. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 3,300 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 401 graded Proof 64 by PCGS.
