A tough 1885 key date three cent nickel piece graded AU 55 by PCGS. This Philadelphia Mint date is the toughest to obtain for the entire business strike three cent nickel series. It carries a sharp strike throughout both sides with some crusty original toning throughout both the obverse and reverse. This is the only business strike 1885 three cent nickel we have offered in a very long time. This key date coin holds a tiny mintage of only 1,000. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 600 have survived in all grades today. it is one of only 11 graded About Uncirculated 55 by PCGS.
