An absolutely gorgeous 1883 proof shield nickel graded PF 65 by ANACS. It carries an exceptional proof strike with extremely flashy entirely blast white lustrous surfaces. It also holds a light cameo throughout both the obverse and reverse but it has not been designated as a cameo by ANACS. This coin has been housed in an Old 1980's Style Small Size ANACS Holder. We do believe it would likely grade a point higher according to today's grading standards.
This proof issue coin holds a total mintage of only 5,419. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 3,250 have survived in all grades today.
