A tough 1880 proof trade dollar graded PR 61 by PCGS. It carries an exceptional proof quality strike with some attractive toning when being tilted in the light as shown in the photos provided. These proof trade dollars have been much harder to come by than in recent years. This coin has been housed in a PCGS Secure Label Holder.
This proof issue date holds a tiny mintage of only 1,987. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 1,400 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 88 graded Proof 61 by PCGS.
