A beautiful 1879 S Reverse of 1878, silver Morgan dollar graded AU 55 by PCGS. It carries a nice strike throughout both sides with some original toning most notably around the rims of each side. It has been notated by PCGS to be the VAM 39 Reverse of 1878 variety. This San Francisco Mint date in general is extremely common with a huge mintage of 9,110,000. However, of this mintage the PCGS Coin Facts estimates only 8,900 have survived today that are this 1879 S Reverse of 1878 variety. This coin is one of only 19 graded About Uncirculated 55 for this VAM 39 variety by PCGS.
