A very attractive 1878 proof only issue, key date shield nickel graded PF 65 by NGC. This key date coin has been tough to carry lately as it has been in strong demand. It carries an exceptional proof quality strike and is housed in a newer style NGC holder. It holds a blast white lustrous obverse with a lightly toned reverse. It has been approved by CAC for quality. This key date coin holds a low mintage of only 2,350. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Fact estimates that only 1,900 have survived in all grades today. This coin is one of only 202 graded Proof 65 by NGC. It is also one of only 46 approved by CAC in this grade level.
