However, the PL designation by PCGS makes it currently the only 1873 open 3 quarter eagle gold piece designated PL by PCGS in any condition. This coin is the only one by PCGS and there are only a few graded in any condition designated as a PL by NGC. A very unusual coin to find with the proof like designation from PCGS that seldom becomes available on the market.
