A very attractive 1871 better date proof shield nickel graded PF 61 by ANACS. It carries a superior proof quality strike with very lustrous and appealing surfaces. this appealing coin looks much nicer than many PR 63 graded examples we have seen. We definitely feel confident this coin would grade higher if it were sent in again today. A very tough date to find that is seldom offered in this grade level.
This low mintage proof coin holds a small mintage of only 960. However, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 825 of these have survived in all grades today.
