A very attractive 1868 half eagle gold piece graded AU 55 by NGC. It holds a very sharp strike for the grade with an attractive overall patina and great detail for the grade level. We believe this to be the only one we have ever offered of this date. For how many have survived, we believe it to be a very under-rated coin.
This Philadelphia Mint coin holds a very low mintage of only 5,700. However, of this entire mintage the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 80 have survived in all grades today! It is one of only 11 graded About Uncirculated 55 by NGC.
