1866 5c With Rays Shield Nickel NGC MS 63 Uncirculated Toned CAC Approved

A very attractive 1866 with rays, shield nickel graded MS 63 by NGC. It carries an above average strike with some lightly toned and appealing original surfaces. This appealing coin has been housed in a slightly holder style NGC holder and has been approved by CAC for quality. This date is very popular among Type Collectors as it is the first year of the shield nickel series. It holds a large mintage of 14,742,500. However, of this mintage the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 40,000 have survived in all grades today. This attractive coin is one of only 323 graded Mint State 63 by NGC. It is also one of only 27 approved by CAC in this grade level.
