An absolutely beautiful 1862 copper-nickel Indian head cent graded AU 58 by PCGS. It holds a strong strike on the obverse with all four diamonds showing very sharply on the ribbon of the obverse. The reverse is weakly struck on the upper portion. It has been housed in a PCGS Secure Label Holder. A very popular date to the Indian head series as the copper-nickel style was minted for only a few years.
This date holds a massive mintage of 28,075,000. However, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 8,000 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 711 graded About Uncirculated 58 by PCGS.
