1857 1C Flying Eagle Cent PCGS AU 53 Snow 9 FS 402 Die Clash with 50c Variety Coin

An interesting 1857 flying eagle cent graded AU 53 by PCGS. It carries nice detail for the grade with a clear and noticeable die clash on the obverse by 'America'. PCGS has noted this coin to be the Obverse Die Clash with 50c variety also labeled as the FS-402 or S-9 (003) variety. this is one of the highest graded examples we have ever offered for this variety. At the time of this listing, the PCGS population report is showing only two coins in this AU 53 grade for this variety with only 32 coins graded higher.
