1857 1C Braided Hair Large Cent PCGS AU 50 About Uncirculated Large Date LD Cert#1843

An 1857 key date braided hair large cent graded AU 50 by PCGS. It carries a decent strike with attractive chocolate brown original surfaces. A popular year among copper collectors being the last year of the braided head large cent series. This coni has more of a chocolate brown hue than a red hue as indicated in the photos provided. For some reason, the lighting causes the photos to look more red hued than it really is in person. This key date coin holds a total mintage of only 333,450. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 6,000 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 70 graded About Uncirculated 50 by PCGS.
