1847 O $2.50 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle Gold PCGS AU 50 About Uncirculated

An attractive 1847 O better date liberty head quarter eagle gold piece graded AU 50 by PCGS. The obverse holds a strong strike but the reverse was clearly weakly struck at the mint. This coin holds a rich original gold patina among both sides and is slightly harder to come by in this grade. It has been housed in a PCGS Secure Label Holder. This New Orleans Mint date has a total mintage of only 124,000. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 250 have survived in all grades. It is one of just 30 graded About Uncirculated 50 by PCGS.
