1798 $1 Large Eagle Draped Bust Dollar NGC VG 8 Very Good Early American Coin
An early 1798 Large Eagle, draped bust dollar graded VG 8 by NGC. This coni carries very strong feather details on the reverse with some hair definition on the obverse. However, it has a lot of areas that look like they were weekly struck. We do not know if this is due to the variety this coin is or if it is because it has been unusually worn down throughout the past 200+ years since it was minted. This old time American Dollars are harder to come by being problem free in a lower grade level such as this one. This date carries a total mintage of 287,536. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 5,000 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 85 graded Very Good 8 by NGC.
