A 1794 starred reverse, liberty cap large cent graded FR-2 by PCGS. This coin is one of the centerpiece of any early American copper collection with an estimated survival rate of only 60 coins in all condition according to PCGS. This particular piece has been deemed the S-48 variety and is stored in a 'PCGS shield holder'. It has what looks like very good detail on the obverse with a nearly faded reverse which is typical for this variety. You can make out some of the 'stars' on the reverse around the rim.
A coin that is very special and seldom offered in a somewhat 'affordable' grade such as this one. Looking at similar coins that have been graded for this variety it looks like PCGS was possibly a touch harsh on this coin. We believe it should properly be stored in an AG-3 graded holder.
